Financial Services can Help Horse Lovers Plan for More

You’ve seen him at horse shows all over the country.  You may remember him from the pony ring or you may know him from the Grand Prix ring, but what you might not know is that Josh VanderVeen is a Financial Advisor.  Josh now works with Wells Fargo Advisors, LLC, Member SIPC and his team is the Great Lakes Asset Management Group of Wells Fargo Advisors.  With over 50 years of experience on the team, Josh and his team members can assist you in all areas of investment planning.

“I understand the unique world of show jumping and the liquidity needed in the business for the unexpected,” says VanderVeen. “This gives me the background needed for helping equestrians with their investments.”

VanderVeen further explains, “Your 90 seconds in the ring is your finished product.  However, there is a great deal of planning that goes into those precious seconds. There is also a team of professionals for every rider. This includes the trainer, the farrier, and the vet to name a few. It’s the same with investment planning. I believe that those who take the time to plan and use a professional are going to get much further than those who don’t.”

VanderVeen’s financial team consists of Donald Nelson, CIMA®, Managing Director-Investment Officer, who was his father’s business associate at Merill Lynch for 15 years.  The two other members are Senior Client Associates.  Between them, they have seen a lot of changes in the market and use their experience to advise their clients. Services of the team include retirement planning, long term savings, (for that new horse?), child education planning and legacy planning.

You’ll still see VanderVeen at the shows competing on his two jumpers.  Between rounds, feel free to grab a cup of coffee with him and ask him about the market. What conversation can be bad when it’s mixed with horse talk!

For more information you can go to their website,  You can also contact Josh VanderVeen directly at or call him to meet at 630-548-6146.
